You need to see what happened to this Patient during surgery

A patient caught fire while they were having surgery. It is believed to have happened due to a higher than normal oxygen levels in the room, due to the fact they needed an oxygen mask.

However, a newly released report into the accident in New York in 2014 gives few details and is heavily redacted, the New York Post reports.

It didn’t give details of the type of surgery, the patient or how badly they were injured at NYU Langone Medical Center, saying:
'When the surgeon used the [redacted] in the presence of oxygen, there was a spark escalating to a surgical fire that involved the [redacted] and the [redacted] and the patient.’

The medical centre was criticised for lapses in safety procedures which allowed to fire to happen, the Post reported after they obtained the report under a Freedom of Information request.

Investigators said there was a ‘communications failure between the surgeon and anesthesiologist’
