Gov. Mohammed Abubakar of Bauchi State has approved
the release of the 10-month balance of 2014/2015 match bonuses to players and
officials of Wikki
Tourists FC of Bauchi.
This is disclosed in a
statement signed by the spokesman for the club, Usman Shehu, and made available
to on Friday in Bauchi.
Shehu said that the gesture
was in appreciation of the club for its outstanding performance during the last
season where the team was rated fourth on the league table.
He said that the gesture was
also to motivate the players.
He said that the match bonuses
would be paid to the beneficiaries on Friday before the team would depart for
Katsina for its first match of the season against Elkanemi of Borno at Karkanda
Stadium in Katsina.
Shehu urged the players to
reciprocate the gesture by showing more togetherness, team spirit and winning
both their home and away matches.
He called on the technical
crew and the players to live up to expectations and justify the confidence
reposed in them by the government and the sports loving people of Bauchi State.
He commended the governor for
releasing the allowances, which he said, would motivate the team to start the
new season on a sound footing.
The spokesman called on
stakeholders to support the club to enable them excel during 2015/2016 season.
He said that the governor had
also allocated a Peugeot 406 and Toyota Corolla to the Chairman of the Club,
Alhaji Isa Matori, and the head of the technical adviser, respectively.
