ampions of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) will play their continental
home games at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt.because Enyimba International Stadium is under rehabilitation
According to Supersport.com, the slow pace of work at the ongoing rehabilitation of the Enyimba International Stadium has forced the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to advise the team to look for an alternative venue.
It is however unlikely for the stadium to be ready
for their opening match of the CAF champions league by February 28.
“The ongoing rehabilitation work at the Enyimba Stadium is not moving at a very quick pace,”
Farriel Allaputa, spokesman of Enyimba, told supersport.com.
“It is looking very unlikely that we will play the return fixture
(against Vipers) at our own stadium so we have opted for the Adokiye Amiesimaka
Stadium in Port Harcourt to play that game.
“We have already received clearance from the Confederation of African
Football (CAF) and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to that effect.”
Enyimba begin their quest for this season’s CAF champions league against Ugandan club Vipers SC in the preliminary round. The first leg will be played on the weekend of February 12-14 at the Bunamwaya Stadium, Uganda.
The stadium inspected were those to be used by the quartet of Enyimba FC , Warri Wolves, NasarawaUnited and Akwa United for the 2016 CAF Champions League and Confederation Cups
