Sylvester Stallone to skipping Academy Awards?

Sylvester Stallone said on Monday that he was willing to boycott this year's Academy Awards if his "Creed" director Ryan Coogler
thought it was a good idea.
Stallone won a Golden Globe last month and is up for an Oscar, after going back to playing Rocky Balboa for a seventh time in the spinoff. When Academy Award nominations were announced last month, no black was  nominated in the major acting categories for the second straight year.
That prompted people like Spike Lee, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith to say they won't attend this year's ceremony.
Stallone said Monday at the Oscar nominees luncheon in Beverly Hills that he spoke with East Bay native Coogler before making his decision, according to ABC News.
"I said, 'If you want me to go, I'll go, if you don't, I won't,'" said Stallone. "(Coogler said) 'No, I want you to go.' That's the kind of guy he is. 'I want you to go and respect us and stand up for the film.'"
Some were miffed that Coogler and Stallone's "Creed" co-star, Michael B. Jordan, didn't receive nominations. Other include Smith, for his work in "Concussion" and Idris Elba for "Beasts of No Nation." Critics' darling "Straight Outta Compton," about hip-hop group N.W.A., was shut out of the best picture category.
The Academy responded to the controversy by making new voting rules, meant to be more inclusive.
