Manny Pacquiaos endorsement with Nike has been
terminated following his recent comments
about homosexuals.The 37-year-old Filipino boxer days ago said homosexuals were ‘worse than animals’, a statement which has sparked a fresh controversy worldwide.
Yesterday, Nike issued a statement disclosing that it was discontinuing his engagement with the boxing champ for his comments on homosexuals describing it as being ‘abhorrent’.
‘We find Manny Pacquiao’s comments abhorrent. Nike strongly opposes discrimination of any kind and has a long history of supporting and standing up for the rights of the LGBT community. We no longer have a relationship with Manny Pacquiao’, the statement read.
Pacquiao is also facing trouble at home as the LGBT community is calling on Filipinos not to support his Senate ambitions ahead of the upcoming election in the Philippines
